Tezpur Law College was established in the year 1972 by some veteran social engineers to provide legal education to the entire region. It is said that every great event that takes place beings new changes and new horizons to the world. Such an event was the starting of the Terpur Law College Their mission and objective was to provide legal education, particularly in the Northern part of Assam and this aim created a sensation in the educational history in this region. The environment today is totally different from the one in 1972; yet the noble mission of the founding fathers of the Tezpur Law College is pursued with same zeal after completing 50 years in the fulfillment of the vision and mission of providing legal education to serve the cause of the human community.
The society which is based upon justice, equality, equity always plays a pivotal role in building the next generation with a sound mind to become forerunners of the Society. This social thrust will produce great changes in the life of common people of the region. Therefore, in the interest of the welfare of the society and to facilitate and to contribute to the cause of justice, it is imperative that the legal education and the institutions run in a proper way in order to make law an efficient instrument of social development. Apart from this, in order to make our coming generations competent enough in the competitive climate of globalization, it is most crucial that our society plays a responsible role and unless it is done, our culture and economy may be in crisis. Hence, it is the demand of the time to advance and disseminate the knowledge of law and to make legal education an efficient instrument of social development and the legal institutions mast grow according to the needs of the society so keeping in mind the above ideology and with a just cause as commitment towards society in the field of legal education, Tezpur Law College has already introduced a 2 year Post Graduate Course of Law (LL.M Course) along with 3 year LL.B. & 5 year BALLB (H) under the affiliation of Gauhati University With the blessing of you all well wishers. I hope that one day. this College will be the "Legal Education Hub" for its Academic Excellence and will be a source of inspiration for other legal institutions.
